Time to Get the Radical!
What are polyphenolic antioxidants?
Polyphenolic antioxidants can help to prevent the signs of ageing, reduce cell degradation and assist in the prevention of a number of degenerative diseases. Polyphenolic antioxidants are best known in the scientific and medical communities for their ability to neutralize free radicals. They do so by lending the unstable free radical molecule an electron to pair with, thereby stabilizing or quenching it before it can do any damage in the body.
The most studied polyphenolic antioxidants in MediOlive® Olive Leaf Complex are oleuropein, hydroxytyrosol, caffeic acid and tyrosol.
What is a free radical?
A free radical is an unstable oxygen molecule with an unpaired electron. Free radicals can be caused by many factors including sun exposure, pollution, stress, poor diet, many cooking oils, alcohol and cigarette smoke. Free radicals can leave the body vulnerable to advanced ageing, cardiovascular problems and degenerative diseases.
MediOlive® Olive Leaf Complex is scientifically proven to contain at least twelve (12) polyphenolic antioxidants which, individually, each quench specific groups of free radicals. In synergy together they form what is arguably the most powerful naturally-occurring free radical hunters known.
Synergy
It is sometimes awkwardly surprising to find how simply, yet effectively, nature has combined her healing molecules. In a technological age where we try to isolate, purify and distill what we believe to be 'the' most effective compounds, MediOlive® has been led back to the source.
MediOlive' parent company, Olive Leaf Australia Pty Ltd, commenced its product development with a goal of creating 'an Olive Leaf Extract with a very high oleuropein level' - and succeeded. But time and experience showed that the resultant extract was bio-effective, not solely because of its high oleuropein levels, but primarily for its synergy of twelve (12) naturally occurring polyphenolic antioxidants.
This led to further product development, and the creation of the EnvirOléa® system, to ensure the very highest presence and synergy of the full range of polyphenolic antioxidants and other healing compounds.
Whilst some products boast of high levels of oleuropein, or hydroxytyrosol, or caffeic acid or tyrosol, MediOlive® Olive Leaf Complex is a 100% natural and synergistic source of all of these, and many more.
'Synergy' is the heart of MediOlive® and it comes from 30 years of experience working with Olea europaea cultivars from around the world. The 48 proprietary steps from selection of the mother trees, through the growing, harvesting, processing and packaging of the supplements all combine to ensure a synergistic balance of more than 100 natural compounds - a synergy which is scientifically studied and supported:
"It may be that combinations of nutrients found in foods have greater protective effects than each nutrient taken alone." (Dr Guohua Cao, the physician and chemist who developed the ORAC assay at the National Institute of Aging in 1992.)1
"'It is of significance that olive leaf extract had an antioxidant activity higher than Vitamin C and E, due to the synergy between flavonoids, oleuropeosides and substituted phenols.2"
"... olive phenolics show a synergic behaviour in their radical scavenging capacity when mixed, as occurs in olive leaf extract.3 "
"Olea europaea leaf extracts ensured an inhibition effect ca. 20-30% longer than oleuropein. Thus the occurrence of the other 3,4-dihydroxyphenethyl esters and of flavonoids improved the antioxidant properties of the Olea europaea extract.4 "
